Climate measures, targets & achievements
Climate measure
Operations based on local grain from the very beginning: short transport distances reduced emissions, and the local chain ran from field to farm and customer.
Climate measure
A circular economy model was adopted with the new wheat mill: milling by-products were utilized in feed.
Climate measure
We started organic business – first with flours, later also with feed.
Climate measure
We switched to 100% renewable electricity. With the new oat mill, from 2019 onwards we also adopted a circular economy solution where steam is produced using oat husks as renewable energy.
Climate measure
We established a sustainability working group, launched company-wide emissions accounting, and joined Biocode.
Climate measure
Regenerative farming practices, developed in collaboration with ProAgria, were adopted by contract farmers. From 2024 onwards, all farmers also report their carbon footprint data.
Climate measure
We will implement carbon footprint calculation for feeds and audit all contract farms, including peatland assessments.

Products & services
Responsibility is very important for Kinnusen Mylly. The starting point for the mill’s responsibility, is that it acts as its own local processor for primary agricultural production in the northern provinces. The production of such high-quality and safe flour in Utajärvi is an integral part of the northern grain product processing chain from the field to the consumer’s table.
